Cymbeline
28th Annual Kingsmen Shakespeare Festival
Cymbeline is a romantic drama that blends elements of tragedy, comedy and history. The play follows Innogen, the daughter of King Cymbeline of Britain, who secretly marries the noble but low-born Posthumus. Enraged, Cymbeline banishes Posthumus, who, while in exile, is deceived into believing Imogen has been unfaithful. This sets off a chain of events involving mistaken identities, disguises, political intrigue and even war between Britain and Rome. Ultimately, the play resolves with revelations, reconciliations and a happy ending, making it one of Shakespeare’s great tragicomedies. This is its first time being presented on the Kingsmen stage.
Kingsmen Shakespeare Company is the professional theater company of Cal Lutheran. The nonprofit organization coordinates apprentice programs for professional and aspiring Shakespearean actors, an educational tour program in local schools and summer theater camps for youths.
